Transitioning From Summer to Fall

Every year comes the sad time when you have to put away your summer clothes and get ready to bundle up in sweaters and boots. But like a lot of other people, I want to savor all the fun clothes I got to wear during summer. So for all of you who have FOMS (fear of missing summer), I have some tips to incorporate a summer vibe into your fall wardrobe.

1. A Fun Jacket

Not only are fun jackets in style right now, but they also help you escape the cold-weather blues with little pops of color. Some great fun jackets to look out for are worn-in denim jackets with patches, embroidery, you name it! I have been loving jackets like these because they are the ultimate remedy for an otherwise plain outfit. Who knew warmth could be so stylish?

But I'd have to say that the best part about jackets is ... CUSTOMIZING! It's very common for denim jackets to be sold already covered in patches, but that doesn't mean it's not super easy for you to personalize your own. You can go full fairy-godmother DIY on your jacket with sew-on patches that are super easy to find. And if patches demand a little too much commitment, try their temporary, more laid-back alternatives—pins! Pins add quirky little pops of color and individuality to your look. Plus, your denim is a fabric strong enough to take a little poking.

Happy Decorating :)

2. Printed pants

Pants are such a staple that they sometimes get a bad rap for being basic. I’m here to invalidate that stereotype. I like to jazz up my outfits by putting on pants with some serious personality. Bring on the prints and patterns! Now, depending on how adventurous you’re feeling this fall, you can opt for either more subtle prints or super bright colors. One of my favorite options are plaid pants, the ultimate cozy yet sophisticated transitional piece. I love to pair plaid pants with a plain t-shirt or a subtly patterned top to mellow out the outfit and draw attention to the pants.

Another way to make your wear fun pants this fall is with some printed or embroidered jeans (denim is especially in this season). Embroidery adds an individualized, delicate spin to classic denim, which gives your look a little something extra without sacrificing its effortless charm.

3. Hats

When I talk about hats, you might picture a wide-brimmed straw sun-shield, ideally paired with oversized sunnies and a bikini in Cabo. Think again. Don’t let your favorite summer accessories hibernate when the weather gets chilly. Hats are a great way to transition between summer and fall because not only will they protect you from the sun, but darker colors can get you into a more fall mood. You can play around with textures and styles to pair with nearly every outfit. I personally have been loving wearing baseball caps because not only are they super trendy, but they also combine a summer look with fall vibe. If you think a normal baseball cap is too summery for you, try one that is made from corduroy or denim, which gives off a cozier feel. So keep your head warm while protecting your skin this fall—unfortunately, a sunburn is not seasonal.

Stay adorable my loves
